Daily summary of experiences in the cooperating school




Daily Experience
September 11 2017:

            For this day I go to my chosen cooperating school Lolomboy National High School. It is a fair weather day and I start my day into a short prayer. I utter God this way God thank you for this wonderful morning may you be with me as I go and help me to fulfill your will. For this reason I am confident to go to school and give the Memorandum of Agreement coming from my college school Bulacan State University. I go to the principal office to ask them to signify the agreement so I can start my task as a student teacher as early as possible, but I waited for almost one hour but the principal doesn’t come. Her secretary told me that she is in an important meeting so she ask me to go to AP department and look for their Head Teacher but still I cannot found him. So I go back to the Principal office and I tell them what happen. At last I go to Sir Peter and he Sign the Agreement on behalf of Mrs. Ramos. When he sign it, I say to myself this is it Ms. Abigail Co it will be the start of your journey as a student teacher. Since it is Monday I need to go to Malolos, City because I still have classes to attend. I am still pursuing my subjects left, for me to able to get my diploma.

            This day we meet with our Supervisor; Mr. Lemuel Del Rosario. He remind us on what to do and he give us tips on how can we deal with our student. He ask about our situation on our cooperating school. This is just a short conversation he give us the check list for our portfolio. How many hours we need to achieve in order to be cleared in our Practice Teaching . He always remind us to do what is our task and be a role model to our students even to our co-student teacher so that the name of our school will not put to shame and maintain the integrity of Bulacan State University for the kind of teacher it is producing. 





September 13, 2017

            This is one of the most memorable and most exciting event in my life. This is my first day in Lolomboy National High School as a student teacher. In the back of my mind both feeling of anxiety and excitement are quarreling in my heart. Anxiety cause I don’t know what kind of students I am going to handle and how am I able to manage them. Excitement because now I will really experience teaching young people and I will encounter a lot of teachers with the same calling like me. I believe I will get a lot of knowledge and techniques from them. My cooperating teacher is Mrs. Ellen Sibunal I think she was strict at first but when the time pass by I realize that she is really caring and approachable when I have doubts and questions I will always ask for her guidance and thoughts about things and it is really helpful for me.  The first thing we do is go to her place, she is not in the faculty because she have her own room located in Open High School where in I also place my own table and equipment for school purposes. Before I start on my duty as a teacher Maam, Ellen tour me around the campus we go to the computer laboratory, library and science laboratory as well as different building for different level. She also explain about my responsibilities as a student teacher and what is her rules and regulation so that we can work together in peaceful manner. I go to grade 10 building it just near to the main gate of the school near to the Principals office. As I carefully observing the things happening I can say that the students here are really active. For example I can hear a loud voice because they are preparing for their speech. Another I can hear teacher from different subject who is stating her lesson with gracefulness. For this thing I think that being a teacher is a lovely thing to do and this gives me more excitement to teach and be a role model to my students. I also meet with the Head Teacher of Social Studies Department. Mr. Narciso M. Cano I could say that I am really afraid of him during this time, because he looks strict and unstoppable when he is mad cause even other teachers are afraid to quarrel with him.  My first day is great day because I meet a lot of people who have the same passion with me. I also learn a lot of things about my cooperating school and the environment of my students.


September 19; 2017
           
            It is another day in my life and this is my second day on my cooperating school. I wake up early since I don’t want to have a bad impression from my cooperating teacher. I go before   7; 00 in the morning. Since the location of the school is near from our house it is easy for me to travel and go to school cause I will not have a hard time on riding a jeep and another vehicle just to go to school. I find my cooperating teacher cleaning the classroom so I go with her and help her to clean the room. My cooperating teacher handles 9 section from grade 10 and she is a master teacher 1. She is respected in Social Studies Department because she is also AP coordinator.  My cooperating teacher assist me on her first period on her schedule, we go to grade 10 Onyx- the students here are quite and not that much hardheaded like others. My cooperating teacher tells me what to do and what are the activities that I must command them to do. After telling me she left me on the classroom because she wants me to learn from my own experience .The students answer some activities from their book about Globalization. It is really hard for me to handle a whole class at this time. I think they find very kind and I will not get mad whenever they are not doing their task. So what I did was to explain them clearly what is the task that they must to do and I also command them to keep silent so they will not distract other section who are also having their classes. When the students finish the task I get all their work book so that I may able to check it and evaluate what are their topic they have done to discuss so that I may able to study their next topic. I go to the next section that I am going to handle, I go to Grade 10- Garnet most of the student when I come in this section are absent, I only found 12 students from here. Though they are just small in number they are noisy and give me a lot of stress because they are not following instruction and they are hardheaded. So I caught their attention and command them to quiet because they are going beyond my limit. I told them to bring out their workbook and they will going to answer an activities about their previous lesson. After I command they there is a little change and they also follow on my instruction. This day make me tired.

Intramurals week: Day 1
The student needs to perform a dance number it is a competition per year level they called it YEBA dance. I can see the eagerness of every year level to win the title. They all prepared for their number and I could say that the students are good in dancing. They all dance gracefully and I cannot predict who will going to win.
I experience to watch the performance of the student as a teacher. It is really an enjoyable experience for me because during this time I don’t need to overpower my voice in order to discuss the lesson. I just try to relax and make my life easier.
Learning is Fun – this means that students doesn’t only learn by lecture and discussion type of teaching. They must also explore the world and play because they are still young and we need to balance thing in their lives. By means of this kind of activity it will enhance different psychomotor skills of the students. They will learn while they think they are just playing. This kind of activities were approved by the Department of Education because they know that students can acquire different values from this kind of activities.
For this day I learn that in school it is not always classroom set up wherein I will encounter blackboard, chalk, book, and projector. I realize that there are also a lot of activities to enjoy while you are in school. Learning can be found not only in 4 sides of the classroom but in every situation that comes in our lives daily.

Intramurals week: Day 2
For this day there is another activities in our school. It is the competition for ball games (Volleyball & Basketball) and laro ng lahi (Sack race, pukpok palayok and kadang-kadang). It is really exciting and fun to see that my students are playing different games and to hear a loud cheer coming from their different supporters. I can say that unity was built in their hearts during this time.
Aside from the ball games there are also pageant for Mr. & Mrs. Intramurals 2017. Wherein students showcase their beauty, talent, and intelligence. This kind of event are the things that I  value the most because there are not stress during this day and only happiness, excitement and love come all thru the whole event.
In this kind of event in the school others may think that it’s just nothing and a waste of time but I believe that in ever activities, events and experience come from the school is valuable. Student can learn important principle in life while they are participating in different competition. Example in pageant they may acquire confidence, rational reasoning and critical thinking when they are answer different contemporary issues in our society.

As I become part of this event I realize that students enjoy this kind of activity. When I check the attendance almost all of my students are present. For here I tend to realize that students just need motivation in order for them to go to school and be willing to learn. It is a challenge on my part as their future teacher because I need to think on how can I motivate my student to love Social Studies.

This day is my first day as an official student teacher and I am going to discuss “ Globali-sasyon: Konsepto at Perspektibo”. I am really excited because I am still awake until 3:oo in the morning in order to prepare for my lesson plan and thinking on how can I execute the lesson well. I start in a simply motivation: “ Opinyon Mo ibahagi Mo!!- Students will give their opinion about the meaning of Globalization for them. The response of the student is really surprising though it is my first time to teach them they are really attentive and well behave. I feel teaching will be fun if this is the situation daily. For the lesson proper I use traditional kind of visual aid to capture the attention of my student. If always tell them to raise their hand if they have something that they can’t understand because the lesson is too long my accomplishment for the day is to finish the discussion of the lesson. 
I choose to use constructivist approach and a facilitator kind of teaching for this lesson. Instead of discussing the lesson all by my own. I try to formulate some question that will stimulate the mind of my student and to do critical thinking in order to answer question. I also encourage them to ask question for further clarification and explanation.  This kind of strategy will develop different skills of the students like creating sound question, solving problem by their own using facts and experiments. Another student will learn by their own, my obligation as their teacher is only guide them in a right way of formulating question and preparing for the activities whether paper and pencil or performance that will suit to the needs of the student.
If you want your student to learn, involve them in the lesson proper. If I will stick on traditional kind of teaching the interest and attention of my student will not retain for long period of time. This means that there will be little chance that my student will be able to recall and understand the topic.
09-27-17
I didn’t accomplish to give activities and quiz yesterday so I decided to continue my discussion and to give quiz for this day. Here are the example of the question given:

___1. Ang Globalisasyon ay isang mabagal na proseso ng pakikipagpalitan ng tao, impormasyon, produkto sa iba’t-ibang lugar sa mundo.
__­_2. Walang anumang bagay o pangyayari ang makakahadlang sa mabilis na proseso ng globalisasyon.
___3. Hindi Maituturing na isyung panlipunan ang globalisasyon.
___4. Ayon kay Thomas Friedman ang globalisasyon ngayon ay higit na malawak, mura at malalim kaysa sa nagdaang panahon.
__5. Batay sa inilabas ng World Trade Organization sa kanilang statistical review sa taong 2016 ang halaga ng kinita noong 2015 ay umabot na sa $ 16 trilyon. I impose my conditions and standard when they are having their quiz. Some of my condition are: they are not allowed to talk or look to their seatmate. Any form of cheating will result automatically to zero. I do this for them to study hard and value the intellect of others.
Authoritative kind of teaching is what I done for this day because I want to impose discipline to my student. For them to be a good student they must learn to follow the command of person with authority. It is important in the very first place to establish your role as a teacher and the role of your student because it will help them to be familiar on their responsibility as a student and their limitations. For a teacher to manage classroom in an easy way she must develop discipline among her student because without discipline student will be out of control and learning will not going to happen.
As a teacher I must learn how to set barrier between me and my students. I must learn how to command my student in a proper way and how to motivate them to obey without complaining.

Balance is a simple yet powerful word this is what I learn for today. I must able to balance my behavior, character, emotion and position. For example it is okay to join your students while they are having their lunch but to join them in a bar is against you duty and principle as an educator.   Another it is good to be a close friend and be familiar with your student but it is not ethical to go beyond friendship.

Paksa 3: 5 perspektibo o pananaw tungkol sa kasaysayan at simula ng globalisasyon. This is my lesson for today. Actually I study hard for this topic. I search for data and information that is related to this because their book is insufficient of important information that are necessary for making the lesson relevant to the students. Example I search for the meaning of Transatlantic passenger jet, what is iron curtain, MNC and TNC and NEDA.

These are the things that I want my student to accomplish after the lesson.  
1.Nasusuri ang pagkakaiba at pagkakatulad ng iba’t-ibang perspektibo o pananaw sa simula ng globalisasyon.
2. Naipapaliwanag ang iba’t-ibang pangyayari na sinasabing may kinalaman sa pasimula ng globalisasyon.
I use direct instruction approach for this topic since the lesson is new and quite hard for the students. Direct Instruction is aimed at helping students to acquire procedural exercised in the performance of some task. Procedural knowledge refers to skills needed in performance of the task. My students doesn’t have much knowledge for this topic so I need to use lecture type. I am the only source of knowledge and learnings for this kind of approach. The task of my student is to listen and take note of important information that are valuable for them as a student.
As a teacher I must learn to inline my method and strategy of teaching to my objectives and to the content of the lesson. Creating a lesson plan is not an easy job to do because you need to consider a lot of thing like facilities and equipment available in the school, student interest, and specially the goal of the lesson.

My lesson for today is “ Globalisasyong pang-ekonomiko”. To discuss this lesson properly I use different illustration and graphs to make give emphasis on how globalization affects the economic system of different countries in the world especially here in the Philippines.

For their activities student must able to find out what are the different MNCs and TNCs that have transaction and operation here in the Philippines. They must able to recognize what are the advantages and disadvantages of having these kind of foreign companies in our country.

Their Assignment for this day is the following:
Magsaliksik ng impormasyon o ideya sa mga sumusunod:
A.    Globalisasyong Teknolohikal at Sosyo-Kultural.
B.     Globalisasyong Politikal
C.     Paraan sa pagharap sa mga hamong ito.
For this lesson I choose to execute interactive approach because as I study the topic for this day I think this will be the best approach for this lesson. Integrated Approach it makes the teacher connects what he/she teaches to other lessons of the same subject (interdisciplinary) or connects his/her lessons with other subjects thus making his/her approach interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary. Though my topic is all about contemporary issue it is connected in other subject especially mathematics and economics. My student will easily understand our topic for today if I relate it to their previews knowledge. Example for them to appreciate the statistical data of the economic system they must know to compute and understand percentage. If I will show them the importance of our lesson by relating it to their daily lives. They must know the process of import and export. How are the goods and products from other country being transport to us and how our products will be transfer to other country.
I learn one of the most significant principle in teaching this day and that is to relate my lesson/ discussion to the lives of my students. Example, because of growing number of Multinational Corporation and transnational Corporation the work place, abilities & skills needed, and knowledge of different operation process of the Filipino worker is also changing that they must able to adapt. So they can compete in a global market and for them to give better kind of living to their families.

“OFW bilang manipestasyon ng Globalisasyon, Globalisasyong Teknolohikal, Sosyo-kultural at Politikal” this is the scope of my lesson for today. My objectives for this topic are the following:
1.      Naaanalisa ang manipestasyon ng iba’t-ibang anyo ng globalisasyon.
2.      Nakagagawa ng isang sanaysay sa mabuti at di mabuting epekto ng gobalisasyong teknolohikal at sosyo-kultural sa buhay ng mga Pilipino.
I use projector in able for me to discuss the lesson clearly.

I used inquiry-based instruction learning implies involving students in the learning process so they will have a deeper understanding of what they are learning. We are born with the instinct to inquire -- as babies we use our senses to make connections to our surroundings. Inquiry-based learning strategies are used to engage students to learn by asking questions, investigating, exploring, and reporting what they see. This process leads students to a deeper understanding of the content that they are learning, which helps them be able to apply these concepts they are learning in new situations. 

To apply different strategies is really valuable. To get the attention of the student and to sustain their interest. It is a huge help for the teachers to be familiar with the different approach, strategies and, methods in teaching. So that teaching will always be an exciting task to do.

My objectives for this day is to discuss about “ Pagharap sa hamon ng Globalisasyon” and to give their final project. A poster about globalization in the Philippines. Instruction, student will be group into 8-10. Each group will create poster and one of their group member will explain the symbols, drawings and slogan that they create. This activity will be my basis in evaluating if they really learn or not. For to achieve high score their work must have the following: Neatness, creativity, content, participation and time.
I choose Cooperative learning strategy to gives my students the opportunity to work with others and see different points of view. This activity will shows that students learn more effectively when working together rather than apart, and it is also known to improve self-confidence in students. The jigsaw technique is especially effective because each student is responsible for one another’s learning, and students find out really quick that each group member has something equally important to contribute to the group in order to make the task a successful one.  Communication, problem-solving skills, cognition, and critical thinking -- all of which are essential for a successful academic career.
What I learn for this day is to give some time to your student to have group discussion and in short cooperative work. This kind of approach will develop students confidence with dealing with others. Cooperation is the key to success in this task. If they will not going to help each other all of them will fail.

I forget about the things t share to my student because what I feel is really painful. While I am writing this I am really crying and my heart wants to explode because of what I feel. I get mad on one of my student. He is so disrespectful and he also try to annoy me with his acts and even though I am trying to stop him and to say that his attitude is wrong what he does is to quarrel with me. Since its last period my patience is not that long enough to tolerate this kind of disrespect. So what I do is to command him to go outside and he will never enter again until his parents to come to school. Actually this situation is really painful for me because it is my first time to get angry that much to a person and the fact that he is my student really affect my heart.
I try to impose discipline to my student. In reality I am reality afraid and nervous for the action that I have done because it is my first time to call the attention of somebody and what is more challenging is I need to talk to his parents. I am not that good in speakinssg or confronting other people especially on this kind of matter, but thanks to my cooperating teacher for guiding me and helping me what to do. I am really blessed to have an understanding and caring teacher with me, without her I don’t know what I must do.
Well I can say that this experience will always be in my heart and mind. Though it’s really painful for me I realize a lot of things this day. I must not be affected too much with action of my student because it will only have a negative impact on my teaching. I must discipline my student don‘t show them too much kindness.
10-11-17

A new morning and new experience is waiting for you today abi, that is what I repeat a lot of times in my mind when I wake up. I can’t move on about the things happen yesterday but still I need to go to school because I am not just a student right now I am a teacher as well. Therefore I need to dress up and comfort myself. For this day I need to discuss “ Pagharap sa hamon ng Globalisasyon”. Honesty I didn’t study my lesson that much because my heart, mind and soul is not focus on my duty. Since I prepare my lesson plan a head of time I have something to show to my cooperating teacher. Grade 10 – Sapphire is my first period. In our discussion I just simply ask them question like who are in charge in planning and preparing for solution on the problems that globalization brings, how does guarded-globalization be a solution to the economic problem that globalization brings.
I use Problem- based teaching for this topic. Since I don’t what to talk too much and I am not really in well mind and heart to teach. So what I did is to group them and give them some situation wherein they will going to answer questions or give a suggested solution in the problem. Problem-based approach  is a student-centered instructional approach in which students collaboratively solve problems and reflect on their experiences. It is characterized by triggers / problems / scenarios used as starting points for learning experiences, student led groups in which students work together collaboratively to identify gaps in learning, and learning goals, teacher as group facilitator, allowing more self-directed learning, Independent self-directed study, after which students meet and report on their advancement towards the learning goals, student self-evaluation of learning activities.

Being a teacher is a great responsibility though you are not okay you need to pretend that you are. There are hundreds of life that are depending on you daily. You need to be okay no matter what because there are students who are waiting for the knowledge that you are going to impart to them.
As a teacher I must know how to know what is best to do for each and every day because the lesson that you are discussing today will their guide in the future.

Hoooray it is Friday!!!! This is what my heart and my mind wants to shout-out. It is really tiring to be a teacher. I feel better now than yesterday. Thanks to the advice and encouragement of my classmates, co- student teacher and especially to my cooperating teacher. I am ready to face another day.  I need to finish the lesson about “ Mga Isyu sa Paggawa”. For this lesson I set the following as my goals to achieve:
1.      Naaanalisa ang mga batas na pinaghanguan ng mura at flexible labor.
2.      Naipapaliwanag ang kalagayan ng mga Pilipino nang dahil sa Iskemang kontraktuwalisasyon.
3.      Nakakabuo ng mga mungkahi upang malutasan ang iba’t-ibang suliranin.
For their activities they need to present the Issues on the labor force here in the Philippines through a tableau, news report, role play, dancing, singing Poster making.
For this activity I decide that they will going to perform a presentation. They will going to choose whether they want to do role playing, singing, dancing, news reporting, or tableau. In the act of learning, people obtain content knowledge, acquire skills, and develop work habits—and practice the application of all three to “real world” situations. Performance-based learning and assessment represent a set of strategies for the acquisition and application of knowledge, skills, and work habits through the performance of tasks that are meaningful and engaging to students.

It is not a healthy teaching if you as a teacher will always be the source of knowledge and information for your students. If you will use teacher-centered approach every time, your classroom and teaching-learning process will be boring. Performance is one way to evaluate the things learned by your student in such a way that they will enjoy preparing and presenting their performance. They will also use their whole body in presenting their work.

Arakin 3:Migrasyon : Konsepto at Kontektsto. To make the topic interesting for my students I create some colorful visuals aids through the use of 21st century technology like projector and laptop. I show them some videos of what is happening in the airport different wonderful cite around the world. I start my lesson proper by asking my students why to people migrate or transfer from one place to another. Since Filipinos are known for its laborer in other countries so I think this is the primary reason why my student is very much related to our topic and they have a lot of ideas on this matter.
Integrating Technology Approach
Integrating technology into the classroom is a great way to empower students to stay connected in this technological era. Technology-rich lessons have been found to keep students motivated and engaged longer. Some examples of utilizing technology in the classroom is to create web-based lessons or a Web quest, multimedia presentations such as a video, animation, or some type of graphic, utilizing a tablet or an iPad, taking your class on a virtual field trip, participating in an online research project, or even creating a class website. As a teacher I must be dynamic I must not be confined on the things I used to be. Like this situation my student is in the 21st century wherein higher kind of technology has develop. For me to meet their needs must know how to adapt to this kind of change. I must master how to operate projected videos, powerpoint and others. To be an effective teacher I must able to flexible and dynamic to change.

After I discuss the lesson for today entitled : “Migrasyon Perspektibo at pananaw”. My students take up a quiz:

Assessment should be created with careful analysis.  So that I can measure what they learn in a systematic way.  I chose Identification kind of evaluation for this topic.
Authoritative kind of discipline is what I done for this day because I want to impose discipline to my student. For them to be a good student they must learn to follow the command of person with authority. Assessment is a process of measuring what your student learn. As a teacher I must know to formulate question that will really measure their knowledge level on our topic. It is important for  me as a teacher to choose are create right evaluation method for this will dictate whether am I meeting the needs of my students or does the different strategies I use is effective to my students.
10- 20-17
Today is the presentation of their final project for 2nd grading. The first group perform a tableau. I am really satisfied with their performance. The projection of the Concept about globalization on work force is well detailed though they are not speaking. The emotion in their face is really attracting and convincing. The next group perform sing and dance for their work I am not that much pleased with their work because they need more practice so they can execute their performance better. They must memorized their lyrics and synchronized their dance step. The third group present their Poster with a Slogan about globalization and how this process affects our daily lives specially the laborers. I am amazed at their work because it is eye catching, colorful and the explanation about their work is really good. The fourth group present a role play on the situation that every simple citizen of the Philippines are facing in the daily lives because of Globalization.   
Assessment undergone major changes this past years. Paper and pencil kind of test or assessment is the most commonly used for measuring what the student learn about a certain topic. The problem with this method is that it is not perfect. This method only measure the knowledge of the student which only falls with the cognitive domain but the affective and psychomotor domain is not measure by this device. Examination Week:
First Day of Exam :
The first taker of the test are Grade 10 Ivory. In fact I am really nervous this day because it is my first experience to be in charge in handling students while they are taking their exam I don’t know the first thing to do. So I ask them to arrange their seat one seat apart. They are really hardheaded and it almost took 8 minutes for them to arrange their seats in a proper way. I give them the questionnaire first follows with the answer sheet. They started the exam exactly 8;13 in the morning. It is really surprising that some of the student finish the exam in just 30 minutes. I ask them if they are really sure with their answer but they say that the exam it hard and they don’t want to answer anymore. So I told them to just keep their papers and command them to keep quite so they cannot distract others who are taking the exam.
Second Day
I am not really good in classroom management and take note I am going to handle the last section. When I come to their classroom all their chairs are not properly arrange and some are not wearing their school uniform. Based on polices of the school I ask them to leave the room and not to have their exams because they are violating school rule. Third day of examination I only handle 2 section unlike the past two day wherein I am handling 3 sections per day. Since I am handling grade-10 diamond this day I not that stressed and I can rest my voice for a while. They are all focus on answering their exam and as I observe, they review the topic that I have discuss to them.
I don’t know what method is best for this kind of activity. Examination is really important because it is 30% of student grade. It is also the tangible basis to assess if the student learn from a teacher or not. The raw score of the student is calculated to know the index of discrimination and index of difficulty. Another the score of your student in their examination will not only reflect their academic performance but also your effectiveness as a teacher. Example if the student got a high score in his exam there are lots of factors we can consider behind his success. Maybe the reason for it is he is just so intelligent or his teacher is really good that motivate him to learn and study more.
Setting discipline while the student is taking their exam is really important. Since the result of the exam is useful for both teacher and student validity of the test and score is really crucial.
I learn the proper and easy way to handle my student during their exam thanks to my cooperating teacher who always give me opportunity to experience every important event in school. Now I know what is the first thing to do and I will not be nervous again because I have a hands-on experience for this kind of situation. The evaluation process is really important for teachers like me because it will determine if the learning outcomes have been achieved or not.  This will also answer the following questions like is the curriculum working, does it bring the desired result, are there some practices that should be modified, and lastly are the student learn what they’ve intend to learn.

It is the first day of class on month of November. I prepare a lesson for this day but it will not be executed for the reason that though it is set as a regular class students doesn’t come to school. So what I do is to check all the activities in their portfolio. I feel frustrated to other section because they are not complying with my requirement and the deadline of the submission of grade to the head teacher and to the Principal. So really need to finish my record as early as possible so I will not cause any shame to my cooperating teacher.
 Problem-based approach  is a student-centered instructional approach in which students collaboratively solve problems and reflect on their experiences. It is characterized by triggers / problems / scenarios used as starting points for learning experiences, student led groups in which students work together collaboratively to identify gaps in learning, and learning goals, teacher as group facilitator, allowing more self-directed learning, Independent self-directed study, after which students meet and report on their advancement towards the learning goals, student self-evaluation of learning activities.

I believe that every situation that I face everyday is an opportunity to learn. For this day I realize that I must keep my record intact. So I carefully record every score that my student got from their activities. So my grade will be valid.

It should be second day of regular classes in November but since most of the student doesn’t come to school discussion and activities doesn’t happen. I guess the student cannot move on from their semestral break or it is too short for them.  I continue to check all the projects, activities and quiz even their exam. It is really tiring to be a teacher that is the words that are going around my mind while checking all the documents given by my student. I check all the test paper of the all my student probably they are about 400. In fact I because of it I memorized all the correct answer from beginning to end.
 I need to do something so that my student will be interested on this topic since most of the issue is not connected to our country. My student will appreciate the lesson if they will see some picture on this matter.
Being a teacher as not an easy profession not like what I thought before. I am really thankful for all my teachers before for their understanding, sacrifices, and patience to student like me. Now that I will be a certified teacher as well, their example will be my guide and inspiration.

Finally I can start my lesson for 3rd grading. The theme of the whole grading period is about “Mga Isyu at hamong Pangkasarian”. One of the question that I asked to my student is : Paano nga ba natin tinitignan ang babae at lalaki sa ating lipuna?

·         For this lesson I use teacher-centered approach since they doesn’t come for 2 day. We are late in our lesson and I need to cope up with our lost. In teacher-centered education, students put all of their focus on the teacher. You talk, and the students exclusively listen. This method is effective in reducing too much time to accomplish each lesson. Though I ask for the opinion of my student sometimes it is often and I give the information instead of giving time to my student to think by their own.  During activities, students work alone, and collaboration is discouraged. The classroom remains orderly. Students are quiet, and you retain full control of the classroom and its activities so can manage my students easily and we can continue to our next topic.
·         Because I direct the classroom activities, I don’t have to worry that my students will miss an important topic.


What I discover this day is it is hard to always implement student-centered kind of teaching because there are some situation wherein you really need to go back to the traditional process. Example is what happen for me this day I need to finish my previous set lesson because we are really late on the target schedule of their lesson for 3rd grading so I need to teach in a fast way so they can have their examination in a right time.

Kasarian sa iba’t-ibang lipunan this is my lesson for today. Before I start the lesson proper, I motivate my student by means a picture analysis
      
They will determine what does the picture/symbol means.
After this simple analysis I ask them  if what is the difference of sex and gender for them. Some answer that sex is for classifying whether a individual is male or female on the other hand gender for them is just another word defining for the sexual charateristics. So I teach them deeper meaning about the difference of sex and gender. Sex is refering to the biological or physical characteristics of human being that define him as a man or her as a women. Gender is more on emotional being on what you think or feel that you are. It is deeeper knowing of yourslef whether your sexual attraction is inline with your biological traits.

·         For this lesson I use Inquiry method. This method will develop students critical thinking and analyzing different situation and Ideas that they are going to face in the near future. It will also develop their holistic abilities and being. In terms of the lesson it will help them to have a wider view about the situation of different people that will lead them to develop respect to other people. It will also open their eyes, mind and heart about the recent issues that our country is facing that will also affect their daily lives.
As their teacher I really learn something from this lesson first is the difference between sex and gender. Another is that I develop my own principle and stand toward this issues and third sex or members of LGBT. For me there is no human being who is automatically a gay, lesbian or bisexual since birth we are created by God in just two sexuality either Male or Female. It is your own choice to feel something romantic toward others. Respect is the only keyword. We must learn to give respect to everyone no matter what is their skin color, race, personal appearance and specially their gender.

I guess this is the most nerve wrecking moment that happen in my life for the month of November because this day is my final demo. I woke up as early as 4:00 in the morning. I prepare all the things that I need and I go to school as soon as possible so I won’t be late. I can calm myself get ready for my demonstration. Sir Lem, come on time so we started exactly 9:00 am. After the opening prayer and checking of attendance I proceed to my motivation: My student needs to complete the puzzle so they can see the whole picture and analyze the ideas that can be derive from it. For the lesson proper I ask some questions to my student like what is the role played by women and men during pre-colonial era, Spanish, American, Japanese, and in the recent years.

·         I really prepare for this demonstration and I make sure that everything will be fine. For the Puzzle analysis I want to develop my student critical thinking and in organizing ideas in their own. It will also help them to solve problem and find the missing link. Aside from it they can also connect their previous knowledge on the present topic or lesson. This activity will also enhance how they will cooperate and work as a team. Another this activity will also set their mind to answer things on time.
·         For their evaluation they need to present a tableau that will show the situation of women and men in the Philippines during different times in the History.  First group present the privilege that man have during the pre-colonial era. Example man have a higher opportunity to be place in higher position in the society like being a datu. On the other hand women also gain respect and higher value during that time like the “ Binukot and babaylan”.
·         This activity will demand the whole body of the student. They need to use their mind to think for the situation they need to do and their body to present and portray the situation. This will also boost their confidence to deal with other people.
·         In conclusion you need to include every aspect of your student to ensure that the what they learn will last longer.

I am really happy after the demonstration. It’s a great achievement as a student teacher but a sweet beginning in my journey as a real teacher. I am overwhelmed about their comment. I will cherish their advice in my heart and in my mind. But for now I just want to enjoy every single minute remaining in my time as a student teacher. I will truly treasure every moment that happen in my cooperating school. The advice of my supervisor, cooperating teacher and head teacher will always be my sword and shield in the new battle that I am going to face as a professional teacher. I want to develop my student respect toward different people specially those who are part of the invisible minority who are also known as LGBT. I am personally against to their sexual acts.  Sexual intercourse between same-sex is not morally correct for me but it does not mean that I don’t respect them. Gender, race, sex, or any differences will not hinder a person to be a productive citizen of a nation it will always deal with the matter of the heart. If a person really want to help his community no one can hinder him to do so.
Actually I learn a lot of things from this topic. Example the Asog in Visayas wherein there are man who are supposedly masculine but they are disguising as a women or “babaylan” so that their god will answer their prayer. I wouldn’t imagine that at early times in the history of the Philippines there are what we called “Bakla”. This will be an addition to my knowledge as a Social Studies Teacher.

 One of the principle I learn for today is that for the student to understand the recent lesson they must have a concrete knowledge about the previous lesson this is what we called sequence.
This day I learn to relate my recent lesson to their preview knowledge. It will be hard for a teacher to teach something that the student doesn’t have any idea on it. In subject like Social Studies, proper organization of topic is really significant. The simpler topic should be place on early stage of the teaching process going to more complex topic so student would not be choked by too much information and difficulty.

I realize that your gender, sex, physical appearance and race will not limit you to be a good person and to contribute to the betterment of the society. Like the person being mentioned in my discussion I am really amazed by their stability and perseverance.  Their sexuality does not hinder them to be successful. Whatever gender you have whether you are gay, female, lesbian or bisexual you can become an inspiration to everyone. The perspective of society neither your sexual attraction will hinder you to do something that will be beneficial for all.
Being a teacher I need to teach my students without any biases. Though I am personally against the sexual acts of LGBT it doesn’t mean that I will also encourage my student to have the same perspective like mine. This activity will measure on what is the perspective of the student toward different gender. They will be asked some question that will lead for the teacher to know about their opinion on current issues like Gender. In a country wherein there are growing population of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender it is an important thing to tackle about this issue. A well-motivated student starts to develop a desire to acquire knowledge independently without external pressure and then apply it in practice.
So planning and organizing appropriate activities for the student is necessary for the success of learning. This will be the beginning of learning when the student are motivated and ready to learn.
For their activities I choose to execute individualistic approach this method will enhance the skills of the student by their own so they will all develop interest for the recent topic.
 
Motivation is one of the key to successful teaching and learning. As a teacher I must be familiar with the taste, the recent trend and the interest of my student. By this means I would know the things that can be used to attract the attention of my students and for them to be motivated to learn. Motivation is really important because this will be the start of effective learning.

Assessment is significant because it is one way of knowing if your student really learn the topic or not. If the feedback of the student is positive it means that you can proceed to the next lesson. On the other hand if the result of the assessment is negative maybe you need to change your style in teaching or probably as a teacher I need to go back on the time where I am facilitating and try to figure out the things need to improve, the things that are not helpful and the things need to be added.
Activities, quiz, recitation, long test are some ways to measure student learning so planning for this is really important. As a teacher I must be careful for all my action because it may affect my student and my relationship with them.

This kind of activities were approved by the Department of Education because they know that students can acquire different values from this kind of activities.

I used inquiry-based instruction learning implies involving students in the learning process so they will have a deeper understanding of what they are learning. We are born with the instinct to inquire -- as babies we use our senses to make connections to our surroundings. Inquiry-based learning strategies are used to engage students to learn by asking questions, investigating, exploring, and reporting what they see. This process leads students to a deeper understanding of the content that they are learning, which helps them be able to apply these concepts they are learning in new situations. 
I really learn a lot from this lesson. I already know about foot binding before but to the extent that it is really painful for the part of the women and all people are accepting this kind of belief that is a new thing for me. I haven’t have any idea at breast ironing but because of this topic this give me a glimpse on the situation of women undergone this process.

Assessment should be created with careful analysis.  So that I can measure what they learn in a systematic way. For a teacher to manage classroom in an easy way, she must develop discipline among her student because without discipline student will be out of control and learning will not going to happen.
Authoritative kind of discipline is what I done for this day because I want to impose discipline to my student. For them to be a good student they must learn to follow the command of person with authority.
